Used to be the Silver Plate shop. Nice guy, another Michael, owned it. Gerald Giles had already moved across the road. We heard that there used to be a cherry orchard behind the terraced houses that were cleared where Norwich Winterthur was built.

Still there. Michael and Valerie ran the Tudor Stores for over 18years. (1979-1997) On the board next to the shop window it said Playfords Bakery. The backdoor opened onto Ben Burgess’s yard.

19-23 Rose Lane, Norwich - Tudor Hall
Tudor Hall was actually built between 1898 and 1900. The building was originally the head offices of Boulton and Paul, later becoming a registry office and then a few different nightclubs. Tudor Hall, Cromwells, Crockers, Henrys and Peppermint Park. In March 2007 indicated that the building is to be converted to flats, offices and a shop front.
In 1973/4 it was the La Tudor Restaurant.
In 1975 it was Crocker’s Dance Hall.
From 1976 it was a nightclub. Crockers, Henrys and Peppermint Park.
