Holt Road, Sheringham
Hilltop Outdoor Centre
Used to be Sheringham Zoo and Silver Fox Farm.
Sheringham zoo
Beeston Regis Silver fox farm was open in 1932 and owned by Mr Stuart and his family. He being an ex Burmese Police officer. It was primarily a silver fox breeding site which was extended into being a more a mainstream zoo by adding more animals including Elephants, lions and monkeys.I do not know when the zoo was closed, but I'm guessing the war might have had something to do with it.
Again I've been guessing where it was exactly sighted, but I think it is basically where Hill tops is now. The leaflet shows an entrance from the south on the Cromer/Holt rd probably where the entrance to Hill top is now. There also was an entrance from Britons lane ,which is the road into Sheringwood . The direct route from Sheringham was up common lane, past the water works and springs and turn left into Sheringwood.
Many locals worked there, and I hope from the photo that members will spot some family in it.
